Filmmaking is collaborative. You’ve all seen the crawls on major motion pictures – yards and yards of names and departments. And all these people – writers, directors, producers, designers, costumers, cinematographers, camera folks, sound mixers, gaffers, grips, electrics, editors, colorists, composers, marketers, distributors – work together to make a film.
Which means there are jobs requiring different skills in many different departments:
Technical departments like Camera and Sound
Art departments like Set Design, Props, Costuming, Hair & Makeup Design
Writing and Directing departments under Script Supervisors and Assistant Directors
The Business end of film production - working under the Producer
Editing and Continuity - working in the Post Department
Promotion/Distribution - working with Social Media and Outreach
Acting – taking small roles in the film
Documentary Production – working with the unit documenting the production
